Covid rates in almost all Local Electoral Areas falling steadily

The rate of Covid is slowing down after the surge in cases in early 2022.

Four local electoral areas in the Shannonside region have recorded Covid incidence rates above the national average in the last two weeks.

New figures from the HPSC show just four-hundred Covid positive cases were recorded locally between the end of April and start of May locally.

A total of 390 Covid cases were notified to health authorities across the Shannonside region in the last two weeks from the 19th of April to the 2nd of May

Ireland's National Covid rate per 100,000 population is now at 291 - with several Local Electoral Areas in the Shannonside region below that threshold.

A total of 167 Covid cases were recorded across County Roscommon in the last two weeks - including 74 in the Roscommon town LEA - 40 in the Athlone M.D and 53 in the Boyle LEA.

In Leitrim the Carrick-on-Shannon M.D recorded 52 cases in the last fortnight - resulting in a Covid rate well above the national average at 457 per 100,000.

27 cases were recorded in Ballinamore's LEA and 32 in north Leitrim.

Ballymahon's LEA has a Covid rate just above the national average- after recording 42 Covid cases in the two weeks between the 19th of April and the 2nd of May.

A total of 44 cases were recorded in the Longford Town M.D in the same fortnight and 26 cases in the Granard M.D.

The other LEAs with a rate above the national average are Manorhamilton and Roscommon town's LEA.
