Councillor says Longford residents' road safety "cry for help" needs to be addressed

Residents in Farneyhoogan have resorted to writing handwritten signs to urge drivers to slow down

A Longford Councillor has described hand made signs erected by residents of a housing estate to urge drivers to slow down as a "cry for help".

Additional 'Children At Play' signage is to be provided in housing estates in Longford town after a Council meeting this week heard some estates were like "Mondello Park"

Councillor Gerry Warnock was told at this month's meeting of Longford M.D that a safety audit of every housing estate in in the town would not be possible due to limited resources.

The Independent Councillor says it's simply not good enough to say that the resources are not there:

Taxi driver Paddy Burke has lived in the Farneyhoogan area for 20 years.

He hopes it doesn't take a tragedy for something to be done :
