Council to seek restart of Lough Funshinagh flood works in High Court

Friends of the Irish Environment will have the case heard before the court tomorrow.

Roscommon County Council is to seek permission to restart flood works at Lough Funshinagh this week.

Work on a pipeline to help drain water from the lake into Lough Ree was halted shortly before Christmas when the group Friends of the Irish Environment won permission in the High Court to seek a judicial review of the project.

The environmental group lodged the legal action over concerns the works may not conform to planning regulations.

The matter is due back before the High Court tomorrow where Roscommon County Council can apply to have the order halting the works lifted.
