There have been protests over the €8 million public realm enhancement scheme that's planned for the town.

Roscommon County Council has told a leading politician the overall plan for the controversial upgrade of Strokestown will not change. There have been protests over the €8 million public realm enhancement scheme that's planned for the town.

Several residents and businesses are concerned that car parking in the town will be reduced considerably. Fianna Fáil senator Eugene Murphy says he has met the council's chief executive, Shane Tiernan, over the issue.
