There have been almost 3,000 driving tests carried out in the Shannonside region in the first three months of the year. The figures released by the CSO also show that the test centre in Carrick on Shannon had the highest pass rate locally last month. There were 2,849 tests carried out at local test centres in the first quarter of 2026. The test centre in Athlone has been the busiest in the region so far this year with just over 1,000 tests being carried out.
However, it had the lowest pass rate out of all the local test centres last month, with just under 50% of learner drivers passing their test. Carrick on Shannon had the highest pass rate in March at just over 73%. Whilst more than half of learner drivers passed their test in Roscommon and Longford last month.
