Calls have been made locally to increase thresholds for social applicants and applicants for the Housing Assistance Payments scheme.
There are concerns that current income limits no longer reflect the financial pressures faced by many working individuals and families.
As a result, some households are earning marginally above the thresholds yet remain unable to secure affordable accommodation in the private rental market.

Longford Councillor Pat O'Toole is calling on the local authority to write directly to the Minister to advocate for the changes.
