Roscommon County Council has confirmed the closure of the R362 from Lysterfield to Curraghboy due to rising water levels at the townland of Coolnageer.

Two families have been forced to leave their homes and a busy road has been closed as flooding has worsened at Lough Funshinagh in south Roscommon.

Roscommon County Council has confirmed the closure of the R362 from Lysterfield to Curraghboy due to rising water levels at the townland of Coolnageer.

Local access is in place and diversions are signposted between Athleague and Curraghboy.

Local councillor Laurence Fallon says urgent action is needed to address the crisis.
