Emer Kelly has been announced as the person who will replace Ivan Connaughton on Roscommon County Council.
The Ballyforan native was announced as the successful candidate after seven people shortlisted were interviewed by a special committee earlier this week for a role on the local authority.
The news of her success was revealed on Ivan Connaughton's Facebook page just after 11pm tonight.

The Athleague native has confirmed that he will resign his seat on the Council following the next plenary meeting of the local authority on April 26th.
The 21-year-old will then take up her seat in May, and will become one of the youngest County Councillors in the country.
