A local Roscommon amenity is set to reopen this summer after slight delays.
According to the Minister for Rural and Community Development, the tender for works on the Ballaghaderreen Library has now been accepted and building work can proceed.
The delays came about after the original tender, published in June 2022, was unsuccessful and had to be re-tendered.
Works on the site can now get underway and are now due to conclude in the summer of this year.
Roscommon-Galway TD, Claire Kerrane, says although there have been delays, the new library will provide an enhanced service to the town
'We are going to be left with a real state of the art library.
We are going to have two new dedicated spaces for children and for young people.
It would provide a library service 365 days of the year.
We will be a really enhance library for the town of Ballaghaderreen.'
