The town of Ballaghaderreen has been described as being in complete shock following the death of two people in a road crash overnight.
A man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s died in the collision on the R293 just outside the town overnight.
Garda investigations are continuing into a single vehicle crash in Roscommon that has left two people dead and another young man injured.
The young man who died is understood to be from County Sligo and the woman in her 30s who died is understood to be a Lithuanian national.
Another man who was injured in the crash was transferred to Mayo University hospital in Castlebar with non -life threatening injuries in caste
The scene of the accident remains closed for technical examination and local diversions are in place and Gardai in Castlrea are investigating
Ballaghaderreen Councillor Michael Mulligan says the incident has left the entire town in shock.
