Athlone residents finalise objections to plans for over 400 hew housing units near Coosan
Residents groups and individuals in Athlone areas are finalising their submissions and objections to a proposal to develop over 420 new housing units in the Coosan area.
The plans by Castlecar (Athlone) Limited are for up to 240 housing units and almost 190 apartments within four apartment blocks, on a 15 hectare site on lands stretching from Garnafailagh towards the Buccaneers Rugby club.
Dun an Ri is being submitted directly to An Bord Pleanala as part of the Strategic Housing Development Scheme and was discussed by members of the Athlone Moate Municipal District yesterday.
The development is overlooking the Glen estate, and its residents group along with others in the area are objecting to its scale and design, noting also lack of roads infrastructure and amenities in the area.
