There had been some concerns that the Covid-19 and national restrictions had impacted the service, however, the Defence Forces has confirmed to Shannonside news that there had been no interruption to service as a result of the pandemic.

According to figures released to Deputy Denis Naughten there have been 420 requests for the service since January.

They range from 31 in that month, 49 in February, 44 in March, there were 55 requests in April, 61 in May, 71 in June , 56 in July and 60 in August.

The Defence Forces say the aeromedical team is based in separate accommodation from the general army officers at Custume barracks, thus minimising the risk of any interruption in service in the event of a Covid 19 incident on that site.
