Ashling Murphy's family pay tribute to her following trial verdict

Trial judge Mr. Justice Tony Hunt said he agreed with the verdict, and told the jury there was "evil in this room."

Jozef Puska is facing a mandatory life sentence after he was convicted of the murder of Ashling Murphy. The 23-year-old schoolteacher was murdered while exercising along the Grand Canal in Tullamore on January 12th, 2022. It took the jury over two hours to find Mr. Puska, of Lynally Grove, Mucklagh, Co. Offaly - guilty.

Trial judge Mr. Justice Tony Hunt said he agreed with the verdict, and told the jury there was "evil in this room." Ashling's brother Cathal spoke outside court following the verdict:
