Army bomb disposal unit called to Granard following discovery of suspicious device

A road and estate in Granard are closed off this afternoon after the discovery of a suspicious device.

The incident began just after 11am.

Gardai received a call just after 11 this morning alerting them to what is believed to be a pipe bomb in the garden of a house in the Trumra road area.

The area was subsequently sealed off and some residents have been asked to move away from the scene as a precaution.

The explosive ordinance team are on their way from Custume barracks to the scene to carry out further investigations and Gardai re urging the public to stay away from the scene.
