The 36 metre high tower would supply high speed broadband to the area.

A planning appeal has been lodged against permission for a large telecommunications tower in county Roscommon.

Hibernian Cellular Networks Limited, applied in march to develop a 36m lattice support structure carrying telecommunications equipment including antennas, dishes, together with associated equipment cabin, for high speed broadband in Lugboy, Taughmaconnell.

The Council had sought further informtiaon on a number of aspects to the project and this was submitted resulting in a decision to grant permission in August of this year.

The planning was subject to a total of nine conditions and An Bord Pleanala has now confirmed it has received a third party appeal in relation to the proposal.

A decision on the case is due to be made by mid-January next year.
