76 people waiting on beds at A&E units across the region

Local hospitals are reporting a busy 24 hours with many non-covid related cases presenting at Emergency Departments across the region.

Hospital emergency departments across the Shannonside Northern Sound region are reporting significant numbers of patients waiting on trolleys today.

There are currently 76 people waiting for beds in A&E departments and wards across the region.

UHG in Galway has the busiest ED locally today with 34 people waiting for a bed.

That's followed by 17 on trolleys or in wards elsewhere in Sligo University Hospital.

Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar has also recorded a busy day with 9 patients receiving treatment on a trolley at the facility.

That's followed closely by Cavan General Hospital where 8 people are on trolleys following their attendance at the A&E department.

Meanwhile, Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe is reporting 5 people waiting, while Tullamore Hospital has 4 on trolleys.

Nationally there are 251 people in Irish Hospitals today waiting on a bed according to figures from the INMO.
