44 surgeries cancelled at local hospital

44 patients had surgeries cancelled at Sligo University Hospital due to bed pressures during the first four months of this year.

The figures were revealed at this week's meeting of the regional health forum west.

Patients affected by the cancellations were contacted on the evening prior and had their surgery rescheduled within 2-3 weeks of the original planned date.
