Clann Na nGael produced the second-half goods to book a place in the Roscommon SFC semi-final after victory over Elphin.
Clann won out 16-points to 1-8, in a second-half performance, were Elphin had dominated the opening period.
Elphin led seven-points to six at half-time, causing Clann many problems with excellent movement in the forwards. Oisin O’Flaherty opened the scoring on two minutes.
However, Roscommon star Shane Killoran showed Elphin’s intent with a seventh minute two-pointer. Josh Lennon equalised for Clann after Alan McManus shot came off both posts.
Kieran Connaugton restored Clann’s lead before Elphin keeper Aaron Brady converted a two-pointer free. Evan Gunn added a point to make it five points to three.
UItan Harney pulled one back for Clann before Shane Killoran nailed his second two-pointer of the game. Josh Lennon and Dylan Sumner fired two Clann’s points over. Elphin led seven points to six at half-time.
However, Clann fired out of the traps in the second-half. Ultan Harney levelling two minutes after the restart with Ciaran Lennon putting Clann ahead.
Emmet Kenny and a Ciaran Lennon two-pointer put clean water between the sides as Clann led 11-points to seven after 40 minutes.
David McManus and Josh Lennon added points each for Clann. Whereas, Evan Gunn sent over Elphin’s first score of the half after 47 minutes. A half were Elphin kicked seven wides.
Alan McManus and two Ciaran Lennon frees made it 16-points to eight on 60 minutes.
Elphin won a penalty in injury time where, Clann keeper Sean Kelly saved John Finnerty’s spot-kick only for Finnerty to convert the rebound.
Clann winning out 16-points to 1-8 and setup a semi-final meeting with St. Brigids.
