It's hoped that works commencing today will deliver major water and road upgrades in county Longford.
Over 5.4 kilometres of old water mains will be replaced along the N55 between Carrickedmond Church and Ballymahon Mart.
It's expected that the works will see reduced leakage, improved water supply as well as an upgrade to the road.
The road, however, will be closed from August 25th to November 28th to allow the works to be completed.
