The public are being urged to exercise caution over a potential toxic algal bloom in Lough Gowna in Longford.
As a result, Longford County Council has issued a public notice warning to not swim or drink in the waters.
The notice also applies to animals.

At this time of year, an algal bloom or scum may appear on, or close to the shoreline of a lake.
Those who come in contact with an algal bloom are being advised to shower as soon as possible and wash all affected clothing and equipment thoroughly.
