Concern has been expressed after reports of a vehicle unexpectedly entering the Royal Canal greenway in Longford town over the weekend.-
Eyewitnesses claim that a car with a single occupant entered the tarmacadam walkway near the Harbour Row area at around 1.30pm on Sunday.
The car is understood to have passed by a number of walkers and joggers in the area at the time, at speed, before exiting further down the greenway.

No injuries were reported and Longford Gardaí claim they have no record of any complaints made about incident.
