Urgent action is needed to tackle an ongoing bog fire in north Longford before it spreads. That's according to local farmer and Senator Paraic Brady as a fire near Drumlish is in danger of spreading to nearby forestry and farmland. Several units of the Longford fire service attended the fire at Cloonaugh bog last night, with the flames extinguished over night.
The fire reignited in the early hours of this morning and now risks spreading significantly. Senator Brady is warning that if immediate emergency action is not taken, we're looking at a crisis situation:
