The Food Safety Authority of Ireland today reported that seven Closure Orders were served on businesses across Ireland during the month of March. Two of those orders were issued to food businesses in County Roscommon. China Palace, located at 11 Main Street, Roscommon town was issued with a closure notice on March 26th due to what the FSAI described as 'inadequate pest control procedures'. Its report highlighted evidence of a rodent infestation in a room which houses the staff toilet, staff storage and laundry facilities. A dead rat was observed in a rat trap while numerous rat droppings were observed behind a washing machine. The FSAI lifted the Closure Order on the 1st of April.
Yomari Foods Limited, located on Main Street in Boyle, Co Roscommon was issued a closure notice on March 19th. The FSAI said the takeaway's drainage facilities were inadequate and not designed to avoid the risk of contamination. Its report said drains in the external yard were located directly outside the kitchen door and were blocked. Foul wastewater and food debris were overflowing throughout the yard. The blocked drain also resulted in the ponding of stagnant waster water throughout the yard and around refuse bins, which had to be accessed by staff members. The Food Safety Authority lifted the Closure Order on the 21st of March.
