Tullamore Show will not go ahead this year

The annual Tullamore Show is one of the biggest in the country and attracts thousands of people from all over the country to the midlands each year

One of the largest agricultural shows in the country has fallen victim to the Covid pandemic once again this year.

A statement from the executive of the show says they have been watching the ever-evolving situation regarding Covid including the latest government advice.

It says preparations for the show take months of planning and this has not been possible due to the high levels of uncertainty that remain.

The statement says all options had been examined to run the National Livestock element of the Tullamore Show but after consultations with the dairy, beef and sheep breed societies, whose feedback was positive, some concerns were raised due to a lack of clarity and unclear guidance from the government around outdoor events.
