The President was taken to safety from an annual dinner for White House correspondents after a shooting outside the ballroom.
One security agent was shot - but was protected by a bulletproof vest.
Police have arrested a man in his 30s from California who was apparently armed with multiple weapons.
They believe the suspect had been staying at the hotel where the event was taking place.
