Tributes paid to the late Jim Nolan

Mr Nolan was a well-known community activist who represented the party in Longford-Roscommon constituency.

Tributes have been paid to a former trade unionist and Labour election candidate following his death this week.

Jim Nolan was a native of Keadue in County Roscommon who ran unsuccessfully in the 1992 General Election.

He passed away peacefully at South Western Acute Hospital in Enniskillen last Saturday.

He was laid to rest in Kilronan Cemetery yesterday following funeral mass at the Church of the Nativity in Keadue.

Mr Nolan's former neighbour and friend Paul Kelly says he was heavily involved in the Credit Union movement locally.

In later years, Jim moved to Enniskillen where he remained involved in the community:
