Tributes paid to former Leitrim County Registrar and solicitor

Kevin Doherty will repose at his home this afternoon from 2pm until 7pm before removal to St Michael's Church, Cootehall on Tuesday morning for funeral mass at 12.

Tributes are being paid to a well-known Roscommon man who passed away in recent days.

Kevin Doherty of Cootehall, Co.Roscommon, was a former solicitor and the Leitrim County Registrar for over 20 years. He is pre-deceased by his parents James and Maureen, and his brother Seán, a former Minister for Justice and TD for Roscommon-Leitrim and Longford-Roscommon. Roscommon senator Eugene Murphy was among those paying tribute to Mr Doherty, saying he was always kind, helpful, astute, and full of wit and humour. Sligo-Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry also expressed sympathy to the Doherty family, calling him 'a gentleman'.

He will be laid to rest in Ardcarne cemetery.
