A leading Garda has warned those who avail of the services of sex workers are aiding global criminal enterprises. Detective Superintendent Derek Maguire was speaking after a Brazilian man was jailed for renting out properties in the Shannonside region to be used as brothels. Some of the properties were located in Longford Town, Ballymahon, Ballaghaderreen, Carrick-on-Shannon, while a further two were in Roscommon town. 54-year-old Ilamar Rodrigues Ribeiro was jailed for nine years for renting out the premises under false pretenses.
