A theatre, similar to The Dock in Carrick-on-Shannon, could be developed in Boyle Courthouse.
Court sittings ended there in 2011, and the building has stood vacant ever since.
The government has allocated almost 50,000 euro for a feasibility study on converting it into a theatre and community space.
