Excess water will now be pumped from the turlough to the Cross River in the townland of Carrick.

A temporary pumping system is now in operation at a flood-affected turlough in south Roscommon. The interim flood relief scheme at Lough Funshinagh was officially switched on by OPW Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran this afternoon. Excess water will now be pumped from the turlough to the Cross River in the townland of Carrick.

Local residents and landowners have been living with the effects of the flooding since 2016. Minister Moran said Lough Funshinagh was the first item on his agenda when taking up office:
