A site of major historic significance is to be formally opened in Longford.
Rose Cottage was a defensive point in Ballinalee which enabled the village to defeat the Black and Tans during the War of Independence.
Longford County Council bought the site and it has been subject to renovation works since 2022.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is to perform the opening of the cottage next Sunday.
Speaking to Shannonside FM, Senator Micheál Carrigy thanked Minister Heather Humphreys and the local community for collaborating in the project:
