The Taoiseach has accepted an invitation to visit the White House on St. Patrick's Day.
Micheál Martin last night confirmed he received a formal invitation from US President Donald Trump yesterday.
He has been facing calls to boycott the annual tradition in light of President Trump's controversial policies in the US and internationally.
But speaking at Cork Chamber's annual dinner, the Taoiseach said he's looking forward to visiting Washington, adding that his "focus in relations with all countries" is on the long-term, not the short-term.
