Students take up case for homework after President's comments

The comments concerning homework by the President in recent weeks has led to a lot of debate on the matter

Children are pleading with the Education Minister to limit homework.

Students and their parents have been writing to Minister Norma Foley since President Michael D. Higgins said in January that a homework ban should be considered.

In the letters children are detailing how homework causes stress and leaves them no time for hobbies or exercise.

A letter detailed in the Irish Examiner outlines how one student maintains seven hours of school each day is 'plenty of education'.

A second talks about how a lack of free time can 'affect a person's wellbeing', while another states that 'if sleeping isn't for school' then 'work isn't for home'.
