Almost 600 pupils return to Mean Scoil Mhuire in Longford town this morning after the school had to close over a week ago due to a case of Covid-19.
A number of staff had to be sent home on Thursday October 8th after they were deemed to be close contacts of the case.
The school said it had no alternative but to close and move classes online, a development which teachers had been trained for in advance.
The school is also using space at the former Turner Printing premises since the beginning of the year in order to be able to maintain social distance for pupils.
Meanwhile teachers want to know what 'additional protections' they are entitled to in Level 4 and 5.
The Teachers Union of Ireland say they've been looking for clarity from the Government on how schools could continue to stay open.
It claims the Department of Education is failing to tackle what counts as a close contact in school - which is causing huge stress for the people they represent.
