A Longford councillor says he takes exception to comments made by Presidential hopeful Maria Steen in the chamber.
The conservative campaigner was addressing members in the hope of securing a nomination from the local authority.
During her presentation she said she was saddened following a conversation she had with an unnamed Fianna Fáil councillor over her stance on marriage equality.
She said the councillor, later identified as Mick Cahill, confirmed he wouldn't be listening to her address.
She added that there are still those who punish her and those who voted no in the 2015 referendum.
Cllr Cahill was not present in the chamber during the candidates address to members.
Speaking afterwards, the Fianna Fáil councillor said his daughter Síona was in a same-sex marriage and it was an issue close to his heart.
He said he was disappointed with how Ms Steen had portrayed their exchange:
