A new state of the art surgical hub is set to be developed in Sligo. Local Minister and Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin confirmed the news this morning after weeks of uncertainty.
The new facility will operate in conjunction with existing services at Sligo University Hospital and is expected to focus on high-volume, low-complexity procedures. There will also be a surgical hub developed in Letterkenny following criticism from Donegal TD's that there would be only one hub based in the North-West.
