It's hoped a special changing facility for children and adults with disabilities and mobility issues in Athlone will be open by the first half of next year.
Funding has been put in place by Westmeath County Council and the government for the facility which will be based at the Athlone Civic Centre.
A room for the facility has already been identified at the Council offices and it is hoped that works can begin in the New Year to provide changing tables, a toilet as well as other facilities
Councillor Frankie Keena first raised the issue at a local authority meeting over two years ago and has thanked Athlone Access awareness group for their support in delivering the project.
