South Longford solar farm would cause major damage to tourism, residents claim

Foigha Solar Farm Limited is seeking to build a solar farm and energy storage compound with a total area of 130 hectares.

Locals in south Longford are banding together in opposition towards a planned solar farm near Keenagh and Ballymahon.

Foigha Solar Farm Limited is seeking to build a solar farm and energy storage compound with a total area of 130 hectares.

The proposed development will consist of a solar farm comprising of 661,500-square-metres of solar photovoltaic panels on ground mounted frames.

It would also feature an energy storage compound consisting of 38-containerised energy storage modules, 10 transformers and one medium voltage control/switching substation.

The planning application is currently being considered by Longford county planners.
