Soldier killed in Lebanon named

A soldier killed while on active duty in Lebanon has been named as 23 year old Private Seán Rooney.

Private Rooney was a native of Newtowncunningham, Co. Donegal and had previously served overseas with the 119th Infantry Battalion UNIFIL.

He was killed after an attack on a UN convoy in Lebanon last night.

Another soldier who was injured in the attack has also been named as 22 year old Shane Kearney, a native of Killeagh, Co.Cork.
