A Slovakian man who was charged in relation to an alleged stabbing in Longford town has reappeared in court today.
He was granted bail earlier this year and is due to appear before the court again next month.
29-year-old Martin Grundza, with an address at Lana Aoibheann, Longford, was charged with assault causing harm, under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, to a man in his 30s in Longford town.
The incident occurred at Chapel Lane on January 28th.
When Mr Grundza first appeared in court in February, Garda David Carthy of Longford Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution at the station.
He said the accused had made no reply to the charge.
According to the DPP's case against the Slovakian national, there were up to 20 witnesses who had gathered outside a house on Chapel Lane before the incident.
The alleged victim of the incident sustained stab wounds to his neck and was treated in hospital for serious injuries but has since been discharged.
Today, Longford solicitor Diarmuid Quinn represented the accused and asked Judge Gerard Jones for six more weeks of direction and to revisit the case on June 16th.
Judge Jones, who was sitting in for Judge Bernadette Owens, was also informed that there are other charges against Mr Grundza.
These involve "wilfully obstructing a Garda during course of duty."
It was decided Judge Bernadette Owens will oversee the matter upon her return to court.
