A Sligo-Leitrim TD has welcomed the rollout of Dairy Beef Welfare Scheme payments to farmers in the Shannonside Region.
Almost €45,000 is being allocated to 82 farmers across Sligo and Leitrim under the Scheme.
Minister Marian Harkin says it's an investment in the future of livestock farming.
€4.73 million is being issued nationwide, with Sligo farmers receiving €38,810 and Leitrim €5,577.
The initiative supports better breeding practices to improve animal welfare and strengthen the dairy-beef sector.
The scheme will reopen for new applications in April 2025, with current participants automatically re-enrolled.
