Sligo University Hospital was once again of the most overcrowded hospitals in the country for the month of March.
The figure is part of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation trolley watch analysis.
Sligo University Hospital was the third highest in the country, with 924 being attended to on trolleys last month.
It is 68 per cent increase on the 550 patients waiting in March last year.
Other local hospitals that serve the Shannonside region also recorded increases in March 2026 compared to 2025.
The Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar's figure went from 55 to 70.
There were 75 patients at Portiuncula, up on 2025's total of 61.
Nationally, University of Limerick was the most overcrowded throughout the month, with 939 at Cork University Hospital.
St Vincent's and University Hospital Galway round off the top five with 870 and 862 patients respectively.
