A six-year-old child has been killed in a crash in Galway City.
The girl was knocked down by a truck on the Headford Road while cycling yesterday afternoon.
The child was hit by a heavy goods vehicle while on her bike at the junction of Headford Road and Sandyvale Lawn just after midday yesterday.
The driver of the truck, a man in his 30s, wasn't injured.
Her body has been brought from the scene to University Hospital Galway, where a post mortem examination will be carried out.
Garda forensic collision investigators have completed a technical examination of the scene and the road has now reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this crash to come forward.
