The Sinn Fein leader says her party would open new Garda stations in Co Roscommon if elected to government. There are concerns about crime levels in the county recently, leading to public rallies in Ballaghaderreen and Castlerea.
139 Garda stations were closed around the country over 10 years ago, including six in Co Roscommon. On a visit to Castlerea over the weekend, Mary Lou McDonald was asked if she would reopen them if successful in the general election:
