There has been a significant increase in the number of drivers detected driving while intoxicated by alcohol or illegal drugs in recent months in County Leitrim.
Figures presented to the latest meeting of Leitrim the county's joint policing Committee showed drunk driving incidents were up by almost 60%, from 26 to 41 incidents.
Drug Driving incidents were also up by 80% from 15 to 27 year-on-year.

Garda Superintendent Chris Grogan also revealed that burglaries are down as well as the number of minor assaults, but possession of drugs offences are up over 100% from six to 13 as well as drug searches.
