Shannonside schools allocated over €4 million for infrastructure works

Over 4 million euro in funding has been set aside for infrastructure works at schools across the region.

The 2022 Summer Works Scheme will see 65 million euro allocated to schools across the country for works at 497 schools.

Longford has received the largest slice locally, with 2.6 million euro going towards 8 projects including roof and external works.

In Roscommon, 11 schools will receive help on projects such as science labs and mechanical improvements.

Leitrim received the smallest application locally at €540,000, with 8 schools to progress projects on infrastructure improvements.

Local Senator Aisling Dolan says the funding will be a relief for many principals across the region.
