Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning for the entire country, which has been in effect since midnight.
The forecaster said strong and gusty southwesterly winds could lead to difficult travelling conditions, debris or loose objects displaced and fallen branches or trees.

The alert elapses at 6pm this evening.
Roscommon, Longford and Leitrim are also under a status yellow rain warning until 3pm today.
Flooding, poor visibility and difficult driving conditions are possible.
