A number of Shannonside projects are included in the HSE's 2025 Capital Plan which was announced today. Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill also announced plans for national projects such as the new Children's Hospital and National Maternity Hospital this morning.
The HSE's Capital Plan includes the provision of a rehabilitation unit at Roscommon University Hospital and phase one of the Sligo University Hospital redevelopment. Construction of a 90-bed community nursing unit in Carrick-on-Shannon and the 50-bed unit at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Roscommon are also included. Funding will also be provided for the refurbishment of St Joseph's Care Centre in Longford. As well as appraisals for new ambulance bases in Athlone and Ballinasloe and as well as a replacement adult mental health unit in Roscommon. A design feasibility for a replacement Central Sterile Services Decontamination Unit at Portiuncula Hospital will also be undertaken.
Refurbishment works will be carried out at Roscommon University Hospital's Radiology Department including the installation of a CT scanner. Sligo University Hospital will see the installation of a Second CT scanner and upgrades to its existing CSSD. New 9-bed High Support Hostels will also be funded at Ashford House in Longford and St Vincent's in Athlone,
