Seven Roscommon councillors put forward for Local Safety Partnership

The safety partnership will replace the Joint Policing Committee and will be made up of 30 members.

Seven councillors have been put forward for the new Local Safety Partnership in County Roscommon. The safety partnership will replace the Joint Policing Committee and will be made up of 30 members. Seven of those members are elected councillors, each of whom were put forward at this month’s meeting of Roscommon County Council. Councillors Emer Kelly, Valerie Duffy, Paschal Fitzmaurice, Marty McDermott, Ruth Conboy and Tom Crosby were put forward by Cllr John Keogh on behalf of the Alliance which controls the Council. Sinn Féin councillor Leah Cull, meanwhile, was put forward by Cllr Tony Ward and seconded by Cllr Nigel Dineen.

Cllr Keogh said the Alliance had taken gender balance and geography into consideration when putting forward its six candidates. Over 50 percent of the candidates put forward by the local authority are women.
