A local senator has confirmed a new playground in Longford town is set to officially open within the next few weeks. Significant works have been taking place at the former Longford Greyhound track since Christmas. It follows the opening of a state-of-the-art skatepark at the Park Road site late last year.
The new playground will be specially adapted serving children with disabilities, and has been open to the public over the last number of days. Longford Senator Joe Flaherty says the council has been working hard to deliver this amenity:
